Keyword research
Turn one seed keyword into a list of long-tail ideas with volume, difficulty, CPC and intent — then mine People Also Ask questions, find the keywords competitors rank for that you don't, size up any domain, and read 12 months of search-volume trends.
Start from a seed keyword
Type a single seed keyword — a broad term that describes your topic, like "running shoes" or "project management" — and Lume expands it into a list of related long-tail ideas. Long-tail keywords are longer, more specific phrases; they usually have lower volume than the seed but are easier to rank for and convert better because the intent is clearer.
Each idea in the table comes with the metrics you need to prioritize, so you don't have to jump between tools to decide what's worth writing about.
Read the metrics for each keyword
For every suggested keyword Lume shows five numbers. Use them together: a keyword with healthy volume, low difficulty and clear intent is a fast win; high CPC and paid competition signal that a term has commercial value buyers are willing to pay for.
- Monthly search volume — roughly how many times the keyword is searched each month.
- Keyword difficulty — how hard it is to rank on page one; lower scores are easier targets.
- CPC — the average cost-per-click advertisers pay, a proxy for commercial value.
- Paid competition — how many advertisers bid on the term; high competition means a profitable, contested query.
- Search intent — what the searcher wants (informational, commercial, transactional or navigational), so you match the right page type.
Add keywords to your project and mine questions
When a keyword looks worth pursuing, add it to your project with one click — no copy-pasting into a spreadsheet. Tracked keywords flow into the rest of Lume so you can follow their rankings over time.
Use People Also Ask mining to pull the real questions searchers ask around your topic. These questions are gold for content: turn them into H2 and H3 subheadings, an FAQ section, or short answer paragraphs that can earn featured snippets and feed answers to AI search engines.
Find gaps against your competitors
Keyword gap pinpoints opportunities your rivals already capture. Pick up to four competitor domains and Lume returns the keywords they rank for that you don't — the terms where they're winning traffic and you're invisible. Results are sorted by volume, so the biggest missed opportunities sit at the top.
Each gap keyword also shows the best competitor position — the highest rank any of your selected rivals holds for that term. A keyword several competitors rank highly for is proven demand; if they can rank, the topic is reachable for you too.
Size up a domain and spot seasonality
Domain overview gives you a fast read on any site's organic footprint: how many keywords it ranks for, its estimated organic traffic, and its top wins — the pages and terms driving the most visits. Run it on a competitor to understand their scale before you choose battles, or on your own domain to track progress.
Search-volume trends plot roughly 12 months of monthly volume for a keyword so you can see its shape over the year. A clear peak tells you when demand spikes; because content takes time to rank, plan and publish ahead of the season rather than during it.
- Ranked keywords — the breadth of a domain's organic reach.
- Estimated traffic — how much organic visits that footprint is worth.
- Top wins — the strongest pages and terms to learn from or attack.
